Abstract des Autors

In untrained healthy subjects the arbitrary isometric strength was measured after single severe dynamic or isometric exercise. Additionally the muscle pain was subjectively rated, and the serum-levels of the enzymes CK and GOT were measured. After a single positive and negative dynamic exercise of 30 or 60 minutes, the isometric strength of the respective muscles was decreased to 82% of the initial value (day 2). Until day 7 the strength increased up to 90% of the initial value (n = 20 or n = 73, respectively). The analysis of the strength in respect to the individual soreness ratings after day 4 showed even the testpersons without overlasting soreness had significantly decreased strength values (about 92% of the initial values). After 80 isometric 6-sec maximum contractions the muscular strength was decreased as well, and other symptoms of overstrain (pain, increase of the plasma-CK, muscular swelling) occured (n = 20).
