Vorwort

In common with other textbooks, in this book play, games, and perspectives on leisture are analyzed. The authors place special emphasis on work and work alternatives, and on leisure in the life cycle. The chapters on time (chap. 4) and myth (chap. 12) incorporate some special scholarly interests of the authors. The final chapter is devoted to career opportunities; some teachers and some students may find that a good starting point. In the first chapter, the authors establish a framework and explain how words are used. In the following five chapters, they examine the basic themes of play, games, time, work, and work alternatives. Chapter 8, "Current Leisure Practices," becomes the central axis of the book, followed by extensive analysis of how leisure is different at different stages in one's life. In the final two chapters, the authors look at the future of leisure and recreation, and your role in that future. Vorwort
