Abstract

16 triathletes and 16 rowers were submitted to constant load (CL) tests on a cycle ergometer and a rowing ergometer, respectively, in order to examine blood lactate concentration (BLC), heart rate (HR) and rating of perceived exertion (RPE) during submaximal workload. CL-tests were assorted as related to the workload corresponding to the maximal lactate steady state (MLSS), which is the highest BLC increasing less than one mmol/l during the last 20 min of a CL-test (30 min). At comparable workloads BLC, RPE, and the increase of HR during CL were higher (p < 0.05) in cycle ergometer exercise than in rowing ergometer exercise. The branch of athletics has to be taken into account, when motoric strain of CL shall be monitored by physiological or psychophysiological parameters. Verf.-Referat
