Abstract
The historiography of sport or its parts has been dealt with before (Bernett 1981; Buss 1986; Krueger 1978, 1979; Simon 1984) under various aspects. The purpose of this article is to show how the present historiography came about, what its institutional and organisational conditions are, and what structural limitations will cause difficulties in the future. The article may also help to look for developments which may further or hinder the growth of the historiography of physical education and sport in other countries. Verf.-Referat
