Abstract des Autors

The aim of the present study was to determine the effect of maturity upon maximal anaerobic power (PAmax) of legs in teenage boys. 184 healthy sedentary subjects (11-17 yr) were studied according to their pubertal development, identified by the maturity standards of TANNER, and according to their age, ie chronological classification. Physiologic conditions to investigate anaerobic metabolism compelled to use maximal and short-time exercise. By an indirect method, maximal anaerobic power (watt) has been performed using the explosive stroke (DV) in a maximal vertical standing jump off both feet and from the Lewis formula: PAmax = 2.21 x g x (body-mass) x (DV)1/2 (where g = 9.81 was the acceleration of the gravity in m/s, body mass was expressed in kg and DV in meter). It was also studied: PAmaxLBM = 2.11 x g x (lean-body-mass) x DV1/2. Because of the short duration of this test (<1sec), it was usual to associate this PAmax to maximal anaerobic alactic power. Mean values of anthropometric characteristics (age, height, leg length, body mass, percent body fat, lean-body-mass), and stroke (DV), PAmax and PAmaxLBM were studied according to the two classifications. A one way analysis of variance and a multiple range test (Least Significant Differences method) showed the increasing of morphologic parameters independently of the classifications. In conclusion, the present investigation shows that maximal anaerobic power, determined by the indirect Sargent test and Lewis formula, is closely related with maturation. Verf.-Referat (gekuerzt)
