Abstract

The feasibility and necessity of employment of mathematical ideology and methods in sport scientific research were discussed in this paper from the following points of view: a) the significance of mathematical methods; b) the re-cognition of the necessity of mathematical methods in sport scientific research; and c) the problems existing in the application of mathematical methods in sport scientific research and their solution. Then a summary was made on the fairly high level application of mathematical methods in sport science research and on the achievements that have been obtained, it is pointed out that for all its worth as a means of quantitative analysis, mathematical method has in itself certain limitations which should be recognized properly.
