In the light of scientific theories, the author makes a study of the characteristic features of sports and puts forward some new ideas about the concept and aims of sports. Generally, he defines sports as non-productive human activities aimed at improving mans physique; specifically, he classifies sports into various groups: health-oriented sports, competitive sports, recreational sports, therapeutical sports and performing sports. The aim of sports in China today is to build this country into a world sports power as soon as possible and to improve the health condition of the whole nation by degrees. The realization of this aim calls for the development off competitive sports, sports in schools, and health-oriented sports among the whole people. Verf.-Referat |
