Abstract

The present paper deals with the analysis of the relationships between morphological features, expressed in the form of somatotype and the level of motor ability of children in early school years. The motor ability of children was estimated by 6 motor tests: obstacle track, long jump (from standing position), 20 m run, wall bars, 2 kg ball throw and 20 dag ball throw. The typological estimation was carried out on: height and body mass, humerus and femur diameters, biceps and calf maximal circumferences and thickness of three skinfolds. Three components of the individuals somatotype was estimated: fatness (F), muscularity (M), and linearity (L). Despite the similarity of the basic morphological features of boys and girls there was a strong sexual dimorphism in the basic motor ability in favour of boys. The increase of frequency of (L) dominancy in somatotypes of children over 9-th year of age was observed with the simultaneous decrease of frequency of M dominancy. Somatotypes with F dominancy showed the worst motor ability. Verf.-Referat
