Abstract
Splenic rupture is a rare injury even in contact sports such as football. Presented is a case of acute splenic rupture in a high school football player, in which the team doctor is a chiropractor. Described is an outline of events suggesting possible splenic injury, eventually leading to the confirmation of the diagnosis by computer tomography (CT) scan. Also offered in the case discussion is information regarding indications for splenectomy and when it is considered best to maintain an observational, conservative role. Verf.-Referat
