Abstract

Physiological responses such as skin and rectal temperature, heart rate and perspiration, change of body weight, temperature and humidity inside clothing and subjective estimation of thermal, humidity and comfort sensations were measured for five healthy male subjects wearing sports wears made of four different clothing materials during three kinds of treadmill running for 30 minutes. Intensity of running and thermal conditions were 50 V02max. at 22 degrees C (L), 70 V02max. at 22 degrees C (H) and 70 V02max. at 30 degrees C (HH). Four clothing materials using in this experiment were 50 polyester and 50 cotton (P/C), 100 acrylic (A), 100 wool (W) and 100 cotton (C). For all materials, the heavier intensity of exercise and/or the hotter temperature of environment were, the worse comfort sensation became. Significant coefficient correlation were found between comfort sensation and decrease of body weight, increase of shirt weight, average skin and body temperature, temperature and humidity inside clothes. As well, comfort sensation correlated with some physical characteristics of materials. Among four materials P/C was elected as the most comfortable one and W as the most uncomfortable. Verf.-Referat
