Abstract
The papers in this volume address a broad range of topics relating to skiing injuries. The topics discussed include the development of standards for safety; biomechanics of skiing and skiing injury; the relationship of skis, ski boots, and ski release bindings to skiing injuries; epidemiology of injury in different parts of the world; treatment of skiing injuries; injuries occurring in cross-country skiing; rescue and first-aid practices and equipment; and cold injuries. These papers were presented, along with more than 30 others, at the Fifth International Symposium on Skiing Trauma and Skiing Safety held in Keystone, Colorado, on 1-6 May 1983. Verf.-Referat
