Abstract
Having rapidly recapitulated the historical connexions between spa treatment and sports, the authors examine the pathophysiological aspects of fatigue in athletes and its metabolic consequences which can be influenced by mineral water treatment (reduced increase of lactic acid, pyruvic acid, CPK and OCT blood levels after exertion in athletes treated with bicarbonate-calcium water compared to non treated subjects). The role of fangotherapy and balneotherapy in the management of disorders caused by athletic activity and in the sequelae of traumata caused by sports is equally stressed. Verf.-Referat
