Abstract
Specificity of exercise has achieved wide recognition as a concept in the fields of rehabilitation and sport. It appears that specificity may be measured at the cellular level. Fifteen subjects followed a program of endurance or strength training using an isokinetic device. Skeletal muscle biopsies were taken before and after the training program. The results demonstrated that biochemical changes, as measured by Sdh and PFK activity levels, occurred before definite morphological changes were evident. However, the changing FT/ST ratio appears to be specific to the training program as well as being evident after only 6 weeks of strength or endurance training. Verf.-Referat
