Abstract

This report documents womens field hockey injuries at the California State University in Long Beach from 1976 to 1979. Of the 81 reported injuries, 56 were seen by a physician, but most were minor. Ankle sprains were the most common. Sixteen percent of the injuries were a glenohumeral subluxation of theshoulder, a cerebral concussion, a second-degree cheek contusion, and four knee injuries. The author concluded that injuries decreased with improved teamperformance and that proper equipment, training, and medical coverage can limit injuries. Verf.-Referat
