Abstract

Different exercise stress tests were compared in 30 athletic university students. Of these tests spirotonometry and Flacks test belong to exercise testsutlilizing increased intrathoracic air pressure. Sperman rank correlation coefficient between these two tests was very high (.906), and even greater between spirotonometry and apnea time used as one of the indicators in Flackstest (.928). By spirotonometry 17 of the subjects was categorized as being invery good condition (mark 1 rating), 20 was in good (mark 2 rating), 33 in moderately good (mark 3 rating), 10 in below average (mark 4 rating) and 20 of them in poor (mark 5 rating) condition. Evaluation of the Flack test rated 66 of the same subject to be in good (I), 27 to be in intermediate (II) and 7 to be in poor (III) condition. Observation of the blood pressure response is more senitive and more realistic than heart response, bacause pulmonary pressure affects hemodynamics most so the time course of the blood pressure response will reflect the impact exerted on systemic regulation in a more valid way. Spirotonometry can exclude the factor of uncertainty associated with apnea time by standardizing the period of increased lung pressure to 20 s. Verf.-Referat (gekuerzt)
