Abstract
While the efforts to identify the causes of throwing-arm injuries are still atthe hypothetical level, the search is continuing for even more specific relationships between injuries and joint actions that occur in throwing. Kinetic analyses of the highspeed, complex, three-dimensional throwing actions have not yet produced sufficient data on joint moments of force or injury-producing torques to permit an explanation for specific injuries, but this area of study offers promise. Meanwhile, further kinematic analyses (via cinematography and electromyography) in conjunction with clinical study of throwing patterns in young throwers and in adults could fill the gaps in our present knowledge of throwing actions.
