Abstract

Thrombocyte count as well as ADP and collagen aggregation of the thrombocytes were studied under the effect of acute exercise in 30 top-level athletes and 20 healthy nonathlectic medical students. The subjects exercised on a treadmillergometer. Baseline thrombocyte count was significantly higher in the athleteswhile the values of ADP and collagen aggregation were identical in the two groups. Following acute exercise thrombocyte count became higher in both groups, but the difference was significant only in the nonathletic subjects. It is suggested that the haemostatic system of athletic subjects displays a state of increased readiness, nevertheless its response to acute exercise isless marked than in nonathletic persons. This latter may be explained by the athletes lower level of adrenalinaemia and hypoxia. Verf.-Referat
