Abstract

Visually handicapped persons take part in sports and recreation with exceptional affinity because it represents the most rational forms of their resocialization and rehabilitation. The blind, apart from chess enjoy different athletic disciplines: running with a guide, jumping in height and distance, throwing (discs etc.). It is even possible to go on bicycle and to do weight lifting. Sport in water is allowed for the blind: swimming and padling on condition that behind there are persons with good vision, always in peaceful water. Football is also allowed with bells. People with poor vision can take part in basketball and handball with ringing balls. Shooting in lighted spacesis also allowed to the lighted targets. Hall-sports polygon should be maximally adapted for the use by blind and people with poor sight. Projecting and building new sports objects are needed for the use by blind and visually handicaped persons. It is necessary to take care of the hygiene of the blind and visually poor persons who need sports and recreation as well as hygiene oftheir equipment. And the type of feeding should agree with their activity. Verf.-Referat
