Abstract

In addition to BMR and specific dynamic effect studies body fat and specificdensity was estimated by measuring skinfolds with a caliper in male physicaleducation majors; further the half relaxation time of the achillis tendon reflex was measured and the signs of resting vegetative nervous equilibrium werestudied in reliance on ECG analysis. The obtained results evidenced a meanBMR of + 9,2 which rose to 25,1 three hours after the ingestion of 200 gcheese. This specific dynamic effect of 15,9 represented a level in the lowerrange of normal values. The concurrently measured half relaxation time of theachillis reflex after protein ingestion or generally in postexercise states isnot sufficiently sensitive and thus unadequate for recording rapid or immediate nervous or humoral changes. Body fat was found to be 9,9, a valuecorresponding to other reports on athletes. No significant connection wasfound between basal metabolic rate and body fat content, and this may be explained in part by the low fat content of PE majors plus its low variability, and in part by the greater dispersion of the BMR values. The ECG studiesrevealed a slight shift toward a vagus dominance in the resting vegetativenervous equilibrium. Verf.-Referat
