Abstract des Autors

Der Beitrag nimmt die Kinder- und Jugendsportschulen (KJS) der DDR und die zugeordneten Sportclubs in den Blick und zeigt anhand ausgewählter Akten des Ministeriums für Staatssicherheit (MfS), wie tief das MfS kontrollierend und steuernd in das System Leistungssport eingriff, dies bereits bei Kindern und Jugendlichen. Da die Leistungssportler als „Diplomaten im Trainingsanzug“ die Überlegenheit des Systems der DDR durch die Überlegenheit des Sports beweisen sollten, wurden Kontrolle und Steuerung durch das MfS als notwendig angesehen – ein Umstand, der bei der historischen Einordnung der KJS (obwohl prinzipiell bekannt) häufig abgestritten oder ignoriert wird. Die hier vorgestellten Beispiele unter Verwendung von Originalquellen eignen sich für den Einsatz im fächerübergreifenden Unterricht (z. B. mit den Fächern Sport, Geschichte, Pädagogik).

Abstract des Autors

The author focuses on the sport schools for children and adolescents (KJS) and their affiliated sport clubs in the former German Democratic Republic (GDR). Using selected documents from the Department of National Security archives, she shows to what great extent the National Security controlled and guided the high performance sport system, even the children and adolescents. Due to the image of high performance athletes as “diplomats in warm-ups” who were supposed to prove the superiority of the national system through the superiority of the sports system, the government regarded the control and guidance through the National Security as necessary – a circumstance (although fundamentally known) frequently denied or ignored in historic evaluations of the KJS. The author considers the presented examples based on original sources as appropriate media for interdisciplinary lessons (e.g. for the subjects physical education, history and education).
