Abstract
Verf.-Referat
Abstract
On July 5, 2007 the International Olympic Committee voted for the idea of the Youth Olympic Games and chose the Southeast Asian city state of Singapore as the first host of the games seven months later. In August 2010, 3600 fourteen to sixteen-year-olds competed for twelve days in 26 different sports. However the objective of the Youth Olympic Games is not only sportive success. Parallel to the sport competitions a broad educational and cultural program was offered, which allowed the athletes a multitude of possibilities to think about their cultural background, their sportive as well as professional future, about health, environmental protection and educational options. Both authors visited the first Youth Olympic Games and offer their initial conclusions in this article. Verf.-Referat
Abstract
Verf.-Referat
