A computer programme for competitive wrestling analysis was developed in the turbo-pascal language on IBM microcomputer or any compatible equipment. The programme summarizes all the actions taken by the wrestler during a given competition. The observational input includes the following variables: general information on the competition of the wrestler and his opponent, standing technique (arm drag, suplex, screw, arm spin, and take-down) - initiation and points, partner technique (gut-wrench, body-lift, arm strength, and reversed body lift) - initiation and points, and warnings. All the variables are coded within 6 min of competition plus overtime (if needed). The output includes both graphical and tabulated presentations of minute by minute performance. The wrestler's performance may be contrasted simultaneously to another wrestler or group of wrestlers. Comparison categories include: country, competition results (winners, losers, disqualified), or all other wrestlers in the similar weight category. The graphical presentation contrasts each of the input variables across time to gained points or exercise frequency. The programme allows the wrestler performance to be summarized across any number of competitions indicated by the coach and supplies means of each of the input variables. Through activity rate and points gained, the programme calculates "effectiveness coefficient" for each competition or across competitions.
