Abstract

A rational selection of players to the team and the increase in the productivity of training stimulated the investigation of individual predisposition conditioning a skilful and efficient competition in sport. Several parameters can be distinguished among these predisposition, namely morphological parameters of a player, kinetic coordination manifested in the technique of performing complex kinetic exercises and jumping ability. A high frequency of jumping during a match (up to 140 in the case of advanced players) and playing ball in the air frequently connected with body turning (throwing in the jump, passing and catching the ball, blocking of throws) require a high level of jumping ability and coordination from players. A number of diverse factors influence the high level of these abilities. Morphological indices are among the most important ones. Few authors, however, investigated the correlation of jumping ability, coordination. and morphological indices in basketball. Therefore an attempt was made to investigate the influence of selected morphological indices on the level of jumping ability and coordination in young female basketball players. The aim of the study was to find correlation between the results of jumping ability and selected morphological indices and to determine correlation between the results of coordination and selected morphologicai indices.
