The regular sports medical control of athletes in sports for intellectually disabled is not organized in Hungary. The athletes with different disabilities frequently suffer from other organic disorders, which can medically exclude them from the regular sports activities. The compromise searching behavior is desired from the sports physicians in these cases, who should not determine only the fact of non eligibility but should try to select those sports, in which there is no real medical risk of participation. We can improve the life quality of people with disability through sports this way. The example of atlanto-axial instability shows that by this mentality of sports doctors, many of the athletes with disability can participate at sports training and events who would have been excluded by the common sports medical view.
