Abstract des Autors

The efficiency of two types of bandages (strapping-technique and taping-technique) on a sudden ankle inversion was evaluated using a specially designed 50ø inversion platform. An accelerometer, an electrogoniometer and an electromyograph were used to measure the following variables (in time and angular position): first deflection point, second deflection point, latency time of the m. peroneus longus and the total inversion time. Additionally the electromechanical delay (EMD) was measured for all subjects. Thirteen male and five female subjects (age between 17 y and 29 y old) with healthy ankles participated. They were tested in five different conditions: without bandage, with ankle-strapping and with ankle-taping, before and after an intensive exercise program. The results presented a significantly decreased total inversion time with the strapping-technique after exercise, implying that the effect of the strapping-technique disappeared due to exercise.
