Abstract des Autors

Modern ski equipment, including release bindings and plastic ski boots, have contributed to a decrease in tibial fractures sustained during skiing. The incidence of fractured tibiae declined by more than 88% between 1972 and 1994. Although there are many other factors involved in injury prevention, including the ability, attitude, and behavior of skiers, there is a concern that the increasing popularity of snowblades, which have nonrelease bindings, combined with more high-risk skiing may result in an increase in lower extremity injuries.
