Abstract des Autors

This article presents a comprehensive, contemporary review of the clinical management of common complications following knee surgery for ligamentous or meniscal pathologic conditions. Areas discussed include pain and effusion management, dysfunctional compensatory postures, muscular weakness or inhibition, quadriceps avoidance during locomotion, decreased knee joint range-of-motion, and decreased musculotendinous extensibility. Also discussed are considerations of associated differences between dynamic knee stability and joint laxity, neuromuscular fatigue, cardiovascular deficiency, hip and ankle muscle weakness or inhibition, lumbopelvic muscle weakness, psychosocial rehabilitation factors, and the changing role of the physical therapist.
