Abstract des Autors
Acute compartment syndrome of the thigh is unusual because there is a large potential space to allow for swelling before circulation is endangered. The thigh has three compartments (anterior, medial, posterior) enclosed by the fascia lata. In most of the reported cases of compartment syndrome of the thigh, the syndrome occurred in the anterior compartment and was attributed to direct trauma, fracture, or compression. Exercise-induced compartment syndrome of the thigh is a very rare diagnosis, with only three reported cases in the literature. We report a case of acute compartment syndrome of the thigh that had occurred after intensive weight training and that required immediate fasciotomy. Verf.-Referat
