Abstract
Elite sport for handicapped persons becomes more and more of public interest. The discussion in the press is often affiliated with fear about the risks. Basic subjects were defined. Risk and chance were discussed from a medical point of view. The statistic of injuries at Paralympic games show a comparable risk of this sport as in non-handicapped sports. Colleagues should be motivated by the presented positive aspects of this elite sport. Verf.-Referat
