Abstract des Autors
The purpose of this study is to determine the cause of hemarthrosis of the knee joint in pediatric population. A retrospective review of last three years (1996-1998) experience with arthroscopy in children was conducted at the Sports Surgery Department of Nationale Institute for Sports Medicine. The age of the 22 patients ranged from 10 to 15 years (average 12,5). The most common causes of children's hemarthrosis in our series were ACL injury (45%), meniscal ruptures (36%) and patellar dislocations (14%). There is a few chance of making a correct diagnosis on clinical and radiological grounds. The appearance of hemarthrosis of the knee usually signifies a serious knee injury. We concluded that arthroscopy is a safe and accurate diagnostic and therapeutic method in children. Verf.-Referat
