Abstract des Autors

The authors discuss suprascapular neuropathy from an epidemiological and surgical point of view based on a case report. A total of 291 subjects (173 males and 118 females), mean age 15.1+/-0.8 years old, were studied during a national tournament. The study included the visual analysis of the trophism of the infraspinatus muscle by a single examiner. One of the cases was found positive for this initial test and also presented shoulder pain. Electromyographic analysis was performed on five different occasions: twice before surgical neurolysis and rounding of the spinoglenoid notch, and a further three times 3, 5 and 17 months after surgery. The results of the epidemiological study show a remarkable incidence of this pathology, especially in view of the age of the population studied. The results of the operated case point to a complete recovery of the conductibility of the suprascapular nerve without a proportional recovery of the infraspinatus muscle. Painful symptoms fully regressed, enabling a complete recovery of competitive activity at a higher level than before. Verf.-Referat
