Abstract des Autors

The epidemiological investigation applied to sports can describe the personal, temporal and spatial characteristics of accidents, and eventually the temporary or permanent invalidity consequences (observational epidemiology). Moreover, epidemiology can provide technical staff (trainers above all) with an extraordinary tool to manage properly the athletic preparation before the starting of championships and in their course. In this field, analytic epidemiology can find the predictive factors related to sport accidents. In spite of this, epidemiology is rarely used, and this is particularly true for amateurish teams. An improvement in knowledge of sport accidents in the Italian professional teams can come out by the enforcement of the law 626/94, and later modifications, about the improvement of workers' safety and health in the work-places. The applicability of this law to sports derives by the consideration that the sport work is a subordinative work. The law 626 obliges the employers to apply formal and substantial rules for the improvement of workers' safety and health during the work, in public or private activities. The employers, in particular, must produce a Document on hazards estimation in the work field, make a note of the accidents on a particular record and report the accidents to INAIL (National Institute for work assurance and accidents).
