Abstract des Autors

The institute of science of movement and training at the Technical University Munich (Olympiastuetzpunkt Muenchen) has done a precise and subtle analysis of the German ice hockey players' strength, jumping, and sprinting abilities based on power diagnostic studies. The presented test set shows a meaningful and financially realisable method for examining hockey athletes in order to assess the development of their strength powers within different age groups and based on individual performance profiles. This method allows to grade each player's performance and to adjust their training programmes accordingly. To our results, the strength abilities of the athletes in the different age groups are increasing too slowly and rare in part even decreasing (from U18 to U20). The main reason for the deficit of jumping and sprinting abilities is the inadequate development of the athletes' peak and explosive forces that need to be improved according to the flaws in their individual performance profiles.
