Abstract des Autors

Rigid clipless pedal systems can cause overuse knee injuries in cyclists. We present a former professional cyclist with lateral knee pain and recurrent blocking, who underwent an arthroscopic suture of a dorsally complete detached and instable lateral meniscus. We postulate this instability of the lateral meniscus to be caused by the overuse of the lateral meniscosynovial junction because of restriction of the physiologic tibial rotation during knee extension due to the rigid pedals. For this reason the use of rigid clipless pedal systems should be discussed. Verf.-Referat
