Abstract des Autors

The study aimed at determining whether endurance training, lasting many years, affected concentrations of total plasma protein and its fractions in male (n=35) and female (n=26) athletes practising competitive swimming, biathlon or kayaking, and in seven male control subjects. Total protein, albumin and globulins were determined in all subjects, and electrophoretic fractions in all control subjects and nine athletes. Total protein and albumin were significantly higher in male than in the female athletes and control subjects. Globulin concentration in untrained men tended to be higher than in male or female athletes. The percentage of albumin was significantly higher and of gamma-globulin lower in athletes than in the control group. It was concluded that a prolonged endurance training may affect the resting profile of plasma proteins. Verf.-Referat
