Abstract des Autors

The aim of the study was to assess the physical activity of schoolchildren during health-related physical education classes. The subjects were 23 first-grade children (11 girls and 12 boys, aged 7.1+/-0.1 years). Physical activity was assessed by heart rate monitoring with Sporttester device at 15 s intervals. Resting heart rate (HR), mean HR during classes and percentage of the class time spent were computed for above 50, above 60 and above 75% of maximum heart rate reserve (MHRR). The mean HR during classes was 157.4+/-7.8 bpm. Sixty percent of the class time was spent at above 60% of MHRR (158 bpm), 40.2% of the time at above 75% of MHRR (174 bpm), and only 27.1% below 50% of MHRR (148 bpm). Heart rate time curves during classes showed high individual variability, the HR values during the main part of the classes ranging from 135 to 212 bpm. It was concluded that health-related physical education programme was effective in promoting the health-related physical activity in schoolchildren. Verf.-Referat
