Abstract des Autors

The aim of the study was to assess the reproducibility of results obtained on Gjessing's rowing ergometer in 2 types of laboratory exercise most frequently used in rowers: graded exercise for determining the anaerobic threshold (AT-test) and a maximal exercise lasting 6 min, simulating the 2 km distance (6-min test). The study was conducted on 15 rowers who were subjected to both tests twice, 3-6 days apart. The reprocibility of measured variables (VE, VO2 and heart rate in the graded submaximal exercise, power output, VO2 and heart rate at AT and PWC170, as well as mean and peak values of power output, VO2, heart rate and peak VE in maximal exercise) was very high as reflected by relative total error values which ranged in all cases from 1.8 to 9.5%. Only in case of lactate the reproducibility was much lower in both tests (17.9 and 14.8%, respectively). It was concluded that exercise tests performed by well fit athletes on rowing ergometer are highly reproducible provided the subjects are well motivated to undertake maximal exercise. Verf.-Referat
