Abstract des Autors

Stress fractures have become a common injury with the current interest in fitness, particularly running, but stress fractures of the pubic rami are relatively rare, accounting for only 1% to 2% of all stress fractures. Pelvic stress fractures reported in adult military recruits and civilian athletes occur most often in the inferior pubic rami and less commonly in the superior pubic rami. Stress fractures involving all four of the pubic rami have not been reported before. When caused by direct trauma, this injury has been called straddle fracture. Being of the female sex is a recognized risk factor for pelvic stress fractures, although the reason is not well understood. The other risk factors in a well-conditioned female athlete are recent alterations in training program or footwear, and short stature. Initial plain radiographs of the pelvic in a patient in which a pelvic stress fracture is suspected are usually negative, but in this case they demonstrated all four fractures. Verf.-Referat
