Abstract des Autors

The patellar tendon graft replacing the anterior cruciate ligament undergoes histomorphologic and biomechanic changes. Avascularity did not interfere significantly with microanatomy nor with mechanical properties of the graft. During revascularization the strength of the graft decreases. On the basis of animal experiments critical forces were estimated for grafts in humans. The calculated values were higher than the resulting forces in the graft induced by active ROM exercises. With respect to biomechanics accelerated rehabilitation is safe. A brace is not necessary. Full weight bearing can be allowed during the first or second postoperative week. Verf.-Referat
