Abstract des Autors

The ability of synchronoptical identification is a special case of peripheral observation and judgment-tasks in sports. Practical examples can be found in several elements of gymnastics which require - at a single point in time - the ability of coaches and judges to identify two movement characteristics happening in some spatial distance simultaneously. The aim of this study was to quantify the influence of a specific training programme for visual perception on the ability of identification. 11 subjects trained 12 times in a laboratory. They had to identify two moving visual marks which were presented on two computer-controlled movable monitors. The angle between the position of the subject and the two monitors shows a significant increase of 32% within the training group (control group: 6%). Further studies will show, if and to what extent the competence for observation and judgment can be improved by a sport-specific synchronoptical visual training. Verf.-Referat
