Abstract des Autors

In the last decades the relation between culture and sport has changed. For a long period sport was explicitly not included in the German ideal of culture. Nowadays sport is seen as a "cultural treasure" or "subculture"; often it is called "sport culture". Mainly two factors are responsible for this change: The understanding of culture was broadening and became less clear. As a result many areas of life and activities are seen as culture. Sport too changed in a quantitative and qualitative way. Today a lot of activities are called sport which formerly not has been the case. These changes were the prerequisites that sport could become a part of culture. But this doesn't mean it became automatically a valuable cultural treasure. Therefore more conditions are necessary which are also connected with the responsibility of sport medicine and sport science. For both the question has to be answered in which way they can contribute to sport that it will become not only a cultural treasure but a rather demanding one. Verf.-Referat
