Abstract des Autors

The effects of a different training degree on cardiorespiratory response to maximal exercise in prepubertal male athletes was examined. Two groups of subjects, active for two years in organized sport, with different weekly programs of training, were studied. The first group (A) of six soccer players regularly trained 4 hours per week; the second group (B) of seven swimmers regularly trained 9 hours per week. All subjects underwent an incremental maximal treadmill test with speed increasing 2 km every 3 min at 0ø slope. Exercise heart rate and gas exchange parameters were recorded. There was no significant difference between group A and B in somatic growth indicators (age, height, weight, bi-acromial and bi-iliac diameters, head circumference, leg and arm length, as well as in cardiorespiratory parameters. Maximal speed reached by group A was significantly lower than that reached by group B (12.4+/-0.5 vs 14.2+/-0.2 km/h; p<0.01). These results support the hypothesis that in prepubertal males cardiorespiratory response to maximal exercise is not related to the training degree. Moreover, our data suggest that training degree could influence the maximal work load. Verf.-Referat
