Abstract des Autors

The effect of an intense training on changes in salivary immunoglobulin A (IgA) and creatine kinase (CK) activity in plasma were studied in 6 elite wrestlers. The IgA levels, relative to salivary protein, were significantly correlated with plasma CK activities (r=-0.465, P<0.05) and with daily training volumes (r=-0.501, P<0.05). The training had a short-lasting, negative effect on the immune system which might have increased the risk of infections in the periods of highest training loads. Verf.-Referat
