Abstract des Autors

The study was aimed to compare body dimensions, blood levels of hormones and hormonal responses during 20-min exercise at 60% maximal oxygen uptake in pre- and postmenarcheal girls. Persons of the study were 33 healthy girls (11 or 12 years old at the beginning). The experiment was repeated after a year and after two years. The postmenarcheal girls were taller, heavier. They had wider shoulders and hips, and increased skinfold thickness. In postmenarcheal girls basal levels of growth hormone and testosterone were higher. In beta-estradiol concentration significant differences appeared when the data were analyzed using the breast development stage as cofactor. In both groups exercise induced significant increase of cortisol and growth hormone concentrations and decrease of insulin level. Responses of beta-estradiol and testosterone were significant only in postmenarcheal girls. Progesterone response was insignificant in both groups. Longitudinal analyses showed increased growth hormone response in postmenarcheal girls. Verf.-Referat
