Abstract des Autors

Adventitial cystic disease of the popliteal artery should be considered as a cause of progressive claudication in the lower leg(s) of young athletes. Sports requiring repetitive flexion of the knee might induce symptoms. This repetitive trauma could contribute to rapid growth of adventitial cysts, thus causing ACD. The role of MRI still has to be determined, although in this particular patient it was of diagnostic value. However, diagnosis could have been made with ultrasonography, the cheapest and least-invasive imaging technique, as it showed the lesion well. Verf.-Referat
