The aim of the study was to estimate the errors of adult height prediction of boys by applying own predicting equations and to compare the results with those obtained by the Roche-Wainer-Thissen (RWT) and Khamis-Roche (KR) methods. That longitudinal study involved 138 healthy boys in the years 1976-1988 and in 1994. Body height predicted at the age of 7 to 16 years was compared with that recorded at the age of 24, regarded as final. The equations were based on multiple regression which involved body height and mass at prediction, mean body height of parents and sexual maturity stage (from the age of 13). Median absolute deviation from the proposed equations between 7 and 16 years of age was, on the average, 2.3 cm and for equations involving sexual maturity 1.9 cm. This has been lower than for the KR method and similar to the RWT but the presented equations do not require an assessment of skeletal age. Verf.-Referat
