Abstract des Autors

We studied 10 male runners before and after a maximal test on a bicycle ergometer, 5 male swimmers before and after one hour swimming and 8 male basketball players before and after a basket match to compare plasma volume, plasma and erythrocyte Mg2+ changes during different exercises. The plasma volume decrease after basketball (-6.37%) was significantly lower than the decrease observed in maximal test (-13.89%) and swimming (-12.26%), because of the fluid intakes given to the athletes during time breaks. Taking into account the variation of plasma volume, plasma Mg2+ decreased significantly less during maximal test (-9.86%) than during swimming (-19.38%) and basketball (-17.33%). Similar trends were found when the percent decrease in erythrocyte Mg2+ after maximal test (-0.36%) was compared with those measured after swimming (-6.88%) and basketball (-8.76%). Our results seem to confirm a greater role of the duration rather than the intensity of exercise in determining plasma and erythrocyte Mg2+ losses. Verf.-Referat
