Abstract des Autors

To quantify aspects of movements it is of great importance to be able to make decisions and to communicate with others for instance in a diagnostic procedure. This counts for sports as well as for medical science. Isokinetic dynamometers appear to be reliable measuring instruments that consequently have an important position in quantifying movements. However, the movements measured with the conventional isokinetic instruments are usually isolated, rotational and monoarticular of nature. This is in contrast to activities of daily life, work and sports where functional movements in chains are complex, translatory and polyarticular. The predictive validity of measurements can be increased substantially by the use of a linear isokinetic dynamometer, such as the Aristokin, that was introduced in the Netherlands in 1992. Advantages with respect to muscle participation, mechanical output and coordination of linear isokinetic measurements in a functional chain are indicated. Verf.-Referat
