Abstract des Autors

Senior and junior elite skiers, anged 17-27 years (n=44), were studied over a period of 3 years. The aim of the study was to follow the dynamics of changes in the anthropometric, health, work capacity, physiological, psychomotor and performance indices and in the relationships between the somatic and bioenergetic indices on one hand, and those characterising development and sports achievements on the other. Two classes of skiers have been discerned, differing in their performance potential and heart efficiency, the "senior" class displaying a higher stability of many indices compared with the "junior" one. The elimination of junior skiers in course of 3 years of the study, and of senior skiers in the previous years, due to their insufficient fitness, markedly affected the selection tendencies. The employed methodology enabled an efficient selection of skiers based on its prognostic power, especially in junior athletes. Verf.-Referat
