Achilles tendon ruptures are not uncommon injuries in the athletic population; however, they are rarely associated with osseous lesions. This association of ipsilateral osseous lesions and Achilles tendon ruptures has been reported to occur most commonly in snow skiers and to involve the medial malleolus. We report a case of an unrecognized Achilles tendon rupture in a female gymnast who underwent delayed repair of the tendon at 8 weeks after initial closed treatment for a nondisplaced medial malleolar fracture.
